Monkito bru & bake

Research & Product Design
Project Overview
The aim for the study is to design a pre-business model by establishing the prospects of combining beer and bread production to yield a zero-waste process and product.
The Challenge
Current beer production techniques do not align with the eight sustainable principles and generate large amounts of waste. Large amounts of natural resources are demanded and misused during beer production like water, energy, spent grains and others.
Climate change environmental challenges would result in legislation to the beer industry, and it is very important that existing and future breweries design their production techniques with the environment in mind.
My Contributions
Researcher - Product Designer

This research project started as part of my Clean Technology course to evolved in my dissertation topic for my MSc in Sustainability, Entrepreneurship and Design.

The main contributions achieved through the present work can be categorised under the following three criteria: clean technology application to reduce energy demand, pre-industrialisation water efficiencies, and by-product upcycling challenges. The combination of several solutions, under these three criteria, formed the sustainable and circular foundation for Monkito Bru & Bake.
